Here’s a question to ponder.
Currently, the federal Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) and rules based on it govern how real estate closings are done. This includes purchases, sales and refinances. One rule under RESPA involves a 3 day right to cancel on refinances if the property is your home. The 3 days include Saturday under most circumstances.
So, ponder this.
If the US Postal Service is going to be closed on Saturday, will this mean Saturday stops being counted as a “business day”?
If not, how are you supposed to have your written statement that you are exercising your Right to Cancel postmarked on Saturday ?
This also makes me wonder how many other laws need to be re-examined if the USPS does close on Saturday.
I am opposed to the USPS closing on Saturday or eliminating Saturday deliveries.
